About Cape Town Penguins

A guide for a morning with the penguins

Cape Town Penguins is an independent guide for everyone who travels to Cape Town to see its African penguins. Here you will find how Boulders Beach works, what entry costs and when the gates open, which day tours visit the colony and how they compare, what a day with Cape Point looks like, whether you can swim next to the penguins, what Simon's Town offers, how Stony Point differs, why the species is in trouble and which months suit you.

The site is available in English and five additional languages. It is written first in English.

How we research

Every number on our pages comes from a source that we link to at the bottom of the page: mostly South African National Parks, CapeNature and SANCCOB, with temperatures and rain days from NOAA's record for the Cape Town International Airport station. Information on tours, that is duration, group size, inclusions, stops and prices, comes from the listings themselves and is shown as a "from" price that the booking page confirms.

Park fees change every year and gate times can change without notice. That is why we always say which period a fee belongs to, and why we tell you plainly what a tour includes and what you pay at the gate yourself.

How we make money

Cape Town Penguins is funded through the GetYourGuide and Viator affiliate programs. When you book through one of our links, we receive a commission; your price remains the same. There are no advertising banners here, and we do not sell your data.

Who is behind it

Cape Town Penguins is run by Lukas Weber from Munich. You will find all details about the provider in the legal notice. The easiest way to send questions, comments, or corrections is to email [email protected].
